Vicarious Trauma Masterclass

Vicarious Trauma Masterclass

The impact of COVID 19 has seen the majority of us operating and working in an unprecedented way. There are significant pressures for not only the children and families we work with, but also for professionals working in child safeguarding. Many of us are now working from home, have increased isolation from friends and family, reduced opportunity to engage in creative or recreational activities and for many additional expectations around home schooling. Coupled with the fact that the abuse and trauma we deal with through our working day being brought into homes; we are seeing demarcation between work and home life being significantly altered.

Therefore, this month NYSCP presented their themed Mini Safeguarding Managers Masterclass on Vicarious Trauma. Looking at how professionals can recognise it in themselves and those they may work with, as well as how to respond to individuals who may be experiencing trauma using a case study example. Please feel free to share the presentation and video recording with your teams/partners. If anyone would like any further information, please email Emma.Phillips@northyorks.gov.uk.
